April 2016

The meeting was held at Linda’s and Cindy, Kay, Sandie, Linda and Jan were present. It  is Karen’s birthday, so she could not attend. Ann and Frank are on a trip to Lopez with another couple for three days. Pat and her husband sold their condo and moved to Bend, Oregon. We will miss you, Pat!

Linda served a lovely spinach salad and veggie pizza.

We talked about the benefits of yoga. Kay told us about fascia and how “om” benefits us.

We talked about how to invite a new member. It was decided the prospective member should be mentioned to the group prior to inviting them.  We will be inviting Jody Doll (Fred Kaiser’s fiance…friend of Sandie, Cindy and Linda) and Boonlan Wang (friend of Kay). Our membership limit will be 9.

A Man Called Ove was the book for April and everyone loved the story. We enjoyed a lively discussion about the memorable moments in the novel.

A discussion about our various experiences with Alzheimer’s ensued.

Books for summer to be discussed in September…Storied Life of A. J. Fikry and The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion.

Kay mentioned a movie review about the “Babushkas of Chernobyl” movie.

The next meeting was supposed to be at Kay’s, but her home is still in the process of being remodeled. It will be held at Ann’s on May 31 at 5:30 pm . Kay will bring dessert. The book for May is The Light Between the Oceans.
