The June 2026 Meeting of Wine & Words Book Club was held at Kay’s – We enjoyed touring her garden, which was at it’s peak of spring abundance! All members were present.

Sandie – The Guernsey Literary an Potato Peel Pie Society
Cindy – told us about family who crashes funerals …Cindy, was it one of these?
The Funeral Crashers by Joanna Nell – A heartwarming contemporary novel about two lonely older adults who meet at a church service and intentionally start crashing strangers’ funerals for connection and community.
The Funeral Crasher by Noemi Moretti – A contemporary romance about a protagonist who secretly crashes strangers’ funerals as a ritual to cope with grief.
The Joy of Funerals by Alix Strauss – A collection of interconnected stories focusing on various women dealing with loneliness, one of whom regularly attends strangers’ furerals.
Sandie – Republic of Memory , Sci-fi/Fantasy about the clash of cultures on a spaceship traveling to a new planet. Sandie said it was a long complicated plot, was hard to keep track of the many characters and the ending felt rushed.
