We had a wonderful dinner at Jan’s home and a lively discussion on the ” A Gentleman in Moscow”. We all loved
the book and Jan shared some photos that Kathy Whitmire sent from the Metropole Hotel in Moscow! We all agreed that the writing was wonderful and this was a great read!
We discussed the reading of “Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of Your Fist”. Anne has this book and is currently reading it. It is a Whatcom Reads book. We are going to wait to see what Anne thinks of this before we actually decide it is for us. Anne’s comment was “she didn’t hate it”….what does that say? A couple of us read the back cover and did not think it was something we want to read. We will revisit this next meeting.
Due to the fact that 3-4 people will be absent from the February meeting, we decided to cancel it. Our next meeting will be in March. I think we chose “The Secret Life of Wonderwoman” ???
“The Chaperone” is the April read.
We did have some input for new books. Kay suggested “American Nations” by Colin Woodward. Non Fiction.
Anne suggested “Death comes to the Archbishop” by Willa Cather and Linda read “Breakfast at Sally’s” perhaps not a book for everyone?
Lastly, we discussed the excellent properties of medicinal marijuana ! We all thought perhaps a “field trip” to a local pot shop would be fun!
Most importantly, Anne brought a new member Jodi Moline. It was a pleasure to meet her and I did not get her personal info for the notes….sorry……we Miss you Sandie!!! Cindy was not in attendance because of a cold. We all hope you feel better Cindy.
Please feel free to add anything I missed and amend these notes as you wish.
Linda
Reply from Ann…
The March meeting will be at my house (Anne) and two books will be up for discussion. The Secret Life of Wonder Woman and or The Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist. I think the book has potential but will not be a great read like A Gentleman in Moscow. That’s a hard act to follow. Thanks for the notes Linda you did a great job. And Cindy, I hope you start to feel better really soon. That cold that is going around is a bad on. Frank ended up taking antibiotics to get rid of it.
