The September 2026 meeting of Wine and Words Book Club was held at Kay’s. Anne and Jodi were unable to attend. Kay provided a lovely assortment of crackers topped with cow and goat cheese, carrot curls, and cucumbers as well as pears morsels in cherry balsamic from Drizzle and her own plum sauce. Everything was so delicious!
We talked about our favorite children’s books and Kay read the Little Red Hen to us. Her version was an updated copy (the kids were watching Henny Potter on TV), but it was an American fable first collected by Mary Mapes Dodge in St. Nicholas magazine in 1874. Cindy’s favorite children’s book is Charlotte’s Web and Sandie’s is The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night, based on a folk song sung to three generations of her family as children (Burl Ives).
