The January 2019 meeting of Wine and Words Book Club was held at Jan’s. Everyone was able to attend. Jan served a delicious green salad and lemon chicken and ice cream with fresh raspberries and chocolates sauce for dessert.
We had fun catching up, since our last gathering was in November. Sadly Jan’s husband, Dick, is not doing well. We all talked about how important it is to clear out the clutter t make our lives simpler as we grow older. One current book on the subject is The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, by Marie Kondo. The author talks about asking if your possessions bring you joy when deciding whether or not to give them up.
The book for December/January was Braiding Sweetgrass. Some members read and enjoyed the book and others have yet to read it. Several members said they loved the stories in the book. Other members were not able to stay involved in the book. It can be easily picked up to read a few chapters at a time.
Other books members read were:
Whiskey in a Teacup – Book for April
Becoming – Book for May
The Paris Seamstress – Book for September
The next meeting is on Feb. 26, 2019 at Linda’s (Karen and Linda switched dates) The book for February is The Last Outrageous Women.
