Our June meeting was held at Sandie’s new summer home at Neptune Beach. Pat, Karen, Cindy, Linda, Jan and Sandie attended the meeting.

We discussed the book for May, The Language of Flowers, by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. Linda was disturbed by the fact that the author was a caretaker of children for the foster care system and yet wrote about a woman who had such a terrible experience and also gave up her child. Other members felt her message was about the damage the foster care system does to kids. Everyone had fun looking through the flower dictionary.

The book for September is Beyond Belief, the Secret Life of Women in Extreme Religions.

The next meeting of Wine and Words Book Club will be held on September 24th at Linda’s. Sandie is in charge of dessert. Please bring book suggestions and be prepared to sign up to host meetings in October, January, February, March, April, and May. We usually get together for cocktails and dinner for our Nov/Dec meeting, so we need to discuss this and decide when and where to meet if we are going to continue this annual event. Last year only 5 members were able to attend.
