Wine and Words Book Club Minutes for 1-29-13

The meeting was held at Linda’s home with Kathy, Sandie, Linda, Kay, Ann and Jan present. We visited for a little while over a glass of wine and there was discussion about who is having the next few meetings. No one could remember and Sandie didn’t have access to the minutes from last year…so later that night she created this blog to post the minutes. Now we should be able to look back at any meeting and easily find answers to those burning questions like, “Who’s having the next meeting?”

Linda prepared a hearty dinner of salad, corn bread, and Mexican tortilla chowder. Ann substituted for Pat and provided a delicious key lime pie for dessert.

We discussed books we are reading as follows:

Wierd Sisters, by Eleanor Brown (Linda and Kay)

Language of Flowers , by Vanessa Diffenbaugh (Kathy)

True Story of Hanzel and Gretel , by Louise Murphey (Kathy)

Bartender’s Tale by Ivan Doig – Sandie – The group decided to read it when it comes out in paperback. I checked online and it is out in paperback, but the price is the same as hardback. $16

The Winter Palace, by Eva Stachniak – Book for February. We bought 2 books on Amazon Prime (free shipping) for $11 each ($10.17 plus tax). Linda and Ann will read them and pass them on to other club members.

The Art of Hearing Heartbeats, by Jan-Philipp Sendker – Book for March. Let Sandie know if you want her to order you a book on Amazon Prime for $10.17 +tax.
