The May meeting of Wine and Words Book Club was held at Ann’s because Kay’s home is still being remodeled. Everyone attended…Ann, Karen, Jan, Cindy, Linda, Sandie and Kay. Ann served a delicious salad with berries and a mushroom quiche.
We discussed The Light Between the Oceans and everyone enjoyed the book. Themes of morality, timing of events in our lives, loneliness affecting decisions, were discussed. Those who read the book thought the ending was rushed and not satisfactory. A movie is based on the book is scheduled to be released soon.
We discussed membership and decided to make Pat an honorary member. We will ask her for book recommendations and include her in our correspondence.
We talked about a New Orleans trip several members enjoyed.

Membership discussion… Maximum of 8. Boonlon Wang will be invited by Kay for the September meeting. Format is to invite new member to come to a meeting to see if they would like to join.
Sandie picked up My Grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry, by Fredrick Backman, who also wrote A Man Called Ove. His latest novel is Britte Marie was Here.
Linda read and enjoyed the Kitchen House about an indentured servant.
Karen told us about a book about Auntie Maime. She will bring it in September.

23 and Me…Cindy and Loud did the DNA test to find out about their heritage.
The next meeting will be at Kay’s on September 27 at 5:30 PM. We will discuss the two summer reading books….Storied Life of A. J. Fikry and The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion. I’m not sure who is providing dessert…Linda?
