The May meeting of Wine and Word book club was held on June 1st at Sandie’s beach house. The meeting date was changed from the previous week due to scheduling conflicts. Sandie provided a delicious meal of shrimp salad and Karen provided dessert. Everyone attended, except Pat, and Michelle Henry came as Sandie’s guest.
The group discussed Peace Like a River by Leif Enger, and everyone seemed to enjoy the book.
Michelle is reading Tears of Mermaids: The Secret Story of Pearls, by Steven Bloom and she recommends it highly.
The September 27th, Book Club meeting will be at Cindy’s and she chose the book, The Tiger’s Wife, by Tea Obreht. Even though it is not yet out in paperback, it has been available at Costco for around $12 and is available at Amazon.com for $15. Sandie will provide dessert for the September meeting.
The October 25th, Book Club meeting will be held at Jan’s and she choose the book, the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot.
The November meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 29th at the Bellweather. Put your thinking caps on about what book to read and discuss for that meeting.
There is no meeting in December.
