The September meeting of Wine and Words Book Club was held at Sandie’s home. Sandie, Linda, Kay, Pan and Karen were present. Sandie provided a Costco meal…Caesar’s Salad, Creamy Tomato Soup, French Bread, Flagship Cheese and gluten-free, rice. flax and sesame crackers. Linda provided Dump Cake for dessert.
Dump Cake recipe:
1 pkg yellow cake mix (dry..do not add anything)
1 21oz can pie cherry filling
1 20oz can crushed pineapple (un drained)
11/2 cups chopped nuts (walnuts or any you like)
1 stick butter melted
Dump cans of fruit into 9 X 13 cake pan, spread evenly. Dump cake mix evenly on top of fruit. Sprinkle chopped nuts
on top and drizzle butter over top. Bake 350 for 45 to 50 minutes……serve with ice cream or whip cream.

The book for September was Oxygen and everyone seemed to enjoy the book. Linda felt it became a bit like a Harlequin romance novel towards the end. Some members thought they knew who the protagonist was right from the beginning and others were surprised to find out. It was the third book by Carol Cassella and all are medical dramas set in the Seattle area.
The book for October is Invisible Thread, by Laura Schroff. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 at 5:30 PM at Cindy’s.
