May 2018

Notes from Linda:

We had a wonderful dinner at Cindy Geris for our May book club get together. We had chili and a kale salad, with ice cream cones for dessert! We were to each discuss a suggestion for “summer reads” and perhaps something for September book club. We did choose a book for September meeting: Killers of the Flower Moonby David Grann. Linda has read this and it is a GREAT historical non fiction read.

Karen read Educated by Tara Westover….said it was o.k……interesting….she also read Rules of Civilityby Amor Towles, the same author that wrote A Gentleman in Moscow, but not nearly as good a book.

Jan read Natural Causes, by Barbara Ehrenreich. She said it was o.k…..the beginning was good…the end was good…the middle not so much.

Ann read The Vacationers and said it was a family vacation to Spain that went awry! Haven’t we all been there? Great expectations for family vacations that don’t go as planned.

Jodi brought a lot of good books. The Last Time They Met, by Anita Shreve, My Kitchen Year, by Ruth Reichl more of a cookbook with little stories….very good though. My Life In France, Pleasures of Cooking and Eating 1948-1954, by Julia Child…very entertaining book.

We talked about Cindy’s trip to Bali. It sounds wonderful (without the humidity).

We are hoping Sandie will have our September meeting. Jodi said o.k. for October. Jan is always January. Feb. & March will be Karen and or Ann….depending on their schedules. We can work out the remainder of the year in 2019!

We all love this club and the ladies!!! Have a wonderful summer!!!
