January 2023

The January meeting of Wine and Words Book Club was held at Jan’s and was attended by Anne, Jodi, Kay, Linda, Jan and Sandie.

Books members shared at the meeting:

Cloud Cuckooland, by Anthony Doerr, the author of a previous book club selection, All the Light we Cannot See.

The Secrets of Underground Medicine, by Richard Gerhauser.

Brain Breakthroughs You Might Not Know, by the Editors of the Bottom Line (not available online)

The Alzheimer’s Solution, by Dean and Marsha Sherzal, MD’s

Karen was not able to attend the meeting, but she wrote, “A fun read that I just finished is Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. Also The Cloisters, a murder mystery by Katy Hays, and Growing up Biden by Valerie Biden Owens. All were good reads!”

Here are a few links to topics mentioned at the meeting…

Acorn Stair Lift… https://www.acornstairlifts.com/stairlift/stairlift-straight-staircase. This stairlift mounts on the floor, not the wall, so no wall repair needed when removed. We are looking into the curved staircase design.

Tube elevator with a very small footprint… https://www.vacuumelevators.com/.

Three Pines series based on the Louise Penny novels. I was wrong about where to watch. These are not on PBS, but on Amazon Prime. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15351648/

The new Van der Valk series on PBS/Masterpiece… https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9128874/.

Thanks, Jan, for having us over! It was fun to see everyone and talk about the fun things happening in our lives.

The book for February is The Measure and we are still gathering ideas for the following three meetings.

The next meeting will be at Anne’s on February 28th at 4:00 pm.
