The October meeting of Wine and Words Book Club was held at Sandie’s home and all members were present for the first time since the start of the COVID outbreak in early 2020.
The book for October was A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World, by C. A. Fletcher. Most members had read the book and enjoyed it.
Cindy mentioned another futuristic book she enjoyed reading, called Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir, who also wrote The Martian, published in 2014 which was made into a movie, starring Matt Damon in 2015.
Karen told us about a book called The Measure, by Nikki Erlick. After hearing the synopsis and reading about it on Amazon, we decided to choose title for our February book.
At the last meeting we discussed several books, and we went over them to see if there were any we would like to read for one of our months. The Spanish Daughter, by Lorena Hughes, will be our December/January book.
Cindy also read and enjoyed Mercury Rising, by Jeff Shesol, about the 1960 race for space.
Our book for November is The Murder of Mr. Wickham. Cindy will send us a list of characters from Jane Austin’s books for reference.
We discussed our meeting time and agreed meetings will be listed to start at 4pm, (except for the annual holiday gathering in November). If the member hosting the meeting has a conflict she can change the time.
Since we don’t have a home for the May meeting, Sandie offered to host it at Neptune Beach.
