Wine and Words Book Club Summary from 10/24/23
The October meeting was held at Karen’s and she provided a fruit, cheese and salmon platter from Whole Foods, which were awesome. She served them on three wooden platters with handles that Karen found on the Food 52 website. They no longer carry the platters, but it is an interesting website to browse through for some holiday ideas.

This was our first get-together since last May and only Linda and Kay were unable to join us.
The members read a lot of books over the summer, so rather than jot down titles and authors, Sandie took several pictures of the books brought to the meeting.

Several other books mentioned were…
Sandie read Cloud Cookoo Land, by Anthony Doerr, (who also wrote All the Light We Cannot See (a previous book club selection)
Big Swiss (a strange and funny book for Gex-X’ers)
A Tidy Ending, by Joanna Cannon.
This last book and The Trouble with Goats and Sheep, also by Joanna Cannon, were recommended by Jodi.
Cindy wrote up descriptions of three books she read. Check it out here
The Premonition, by Michael Lewis
Red Paint The Ancestral Autobiography of a Coast Salish Punk, by Sasha LaPointe
The House on Mango Street, by Sandra Sisneros
Some of the members read and enjoyed previously suggested books, The 10,000 Doors of January and Fellowship Point for the October meeting and really enjoyed them.
Our books chosen for the next three months are Tom Lake , by Ann Patchett (November) and Hello Beautiful, by Ann Napolitano (December/January).
We made a reservation for the bar at the Bellweather on Nov. 28, at 3-pm. The gal Sandie spoke to on the phone said they are revamping their website, so call a week ahead to confirm if I don’t receive a notification about the reservation.
See you all then.
Happy Halloween!
Sandie
