The October meeting of the Wine and Words Book Club was at Sandie’s home, with everyone but Linda and Kay attending. Sandie put together a charcuterie board on a lazy Susan loaded with cheeses, meats, dried apple chips, blackberries and pumpkin spiced pecans. Check out the spider web decorated brie!

We discussed the book for this month, Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting, by Claire Pooley. Members who read it really enjoyed the Iona’s quirky, colorful character, the diversity of the characters and multi-generational element.
The book for next month is The Trouble with Goats & Sheep by Joanna Cannon. Cindy mentioned she read a previous book by Joanna Cannon, recommended by Jodi, A Tidy Ending, and loved it. Sandie had also read it and remarked about the memorable and very surprising ending.
Karen brought a few books she read recently…Make Your Bed, by Admiral William H. McRaven, Class, by Stephanie Land (who also wrote Maid), The Chancellor, by Kati Marton about Angela Merkel book for Dec/Jan), and Rock, Paper, Scissors, a thriller by Alice Feeney (mentioned at the previous meeting). Cindy brought Moriarty, by Anthony Horowitz to share.

Cindy also read On Call, by Dr. Anthony Fauci and enjoyed the glimpse into his character.

We enjoyed sharing our lates movies and series. Cindy loved Bad Sisters on Apple TV and a good movie is Wicked Little Lies (AKA Wicked Little Letters?). Karen enjoyed Nobody Wants This on Netflix.
Our next meeting will be our Holiday Gathering at the Bellweather in the Lighthouse Pub on Nov. 19 at 4 pm. Cindy will make the reservations.
Just a reminder our books for the next few months are:
November: The Trouble with Goats & Sheep by Joanna Cannon
December/January: The Chancellor, by Kati Marton about Angela Merkel
