The October meeting of Wine and Words Book Club was held at On Rice in Barkley Village. Linda, Sandie, Cindy and Jodi attended.
Books discussed:
Book for October, Atmosphere, by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Fictional story about the first women who trained as NASA astronauts. Several members read and enjoyed the book, however, t did not appeal to several others.
Cindy read Confederates in the Attic, by Tony Horwitz (not to be confused with Anthony Horowitz).
It was mentioned there is a new Anthony Horowitz book, Marble Hall Murders, coming out in March, 2026. It is the third book in the Susan Ryeland series (Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders), previously read by our book club. Note: we chose this book for November, 2025, only to realize later it doesn’t come out until March, 2026.
Charles Finch Victorian mystery series was mentioned, https://www.goodreads.com/series/43812-charles-lenox-mysteries
Sandie listened to audible versions of The Tainted Cup, by Robert Jackson Bennett and I Have Some Questions for You, by Rebecca Makkai.
Jodi enjoyed The God of the Woods, by Liz Moore. The God of the Woods is a work of historical fiction, inspired by a series of events in the Adirondacks during the 1970s, including the serial killer Robert Garrow and the creation of female investigators in New York State. Book for December/January.
Linda mentioned she enjoyed the Rainmaker tv series, based on the 1995 book by John Grisham.
The Monica Lewinsky podcast was also mentioned.
Our holiday gathering will be at Starla’s on Dec. 2 at 4:30 pm.
