The January meeting of the Wine and Words Book Club was held at Lombardi’s. Jodi, Cindy, Kay, Linda and Sandie attended.
Here are my scribbles from the meeting…
God of the Woods, book for this this month. Not much discussion about the mystery, since several members need to finished it.
Solito recommend by Kay, about an immigrant’s journey from El Salvadore.
Hamnet, by Maggie O’Farrell, recommended by Cindy, who read the book, listened to it on audible and recently saw the movie.
Breath of the Gods, about the wind. Kay is reading, not recommended for book club, but informative.
Song Sung Blue, movie was wonderful. Cindy said Kate Hudson’s performance was amazing. She was nominated for Best Actress.
Sandie mentioned she saw the movie, Avatar, Fire and Ash, and enjoyed it. During the previews, she discovered the Project Hail Mary movie, based on the novel by Andy Weir (The Martian) , will be out in March. The movie starring Ryan Gosling, has been in production for five years.
There is a Gentleman in Moscow series on Hulu.
Everything is Tuberculosis, by John Green, read by Cindy. He is the author of The Fault in our Stars.
